What is BuildTycoon?

BuildTycoon is a free online football manager game that runs entirely in your browser, with no download and no installation. You take over a real club — with its own budget, stadium and squad — and lead it season after season against thousands of other managers from around the world, not against the computer.

Unlike most games in the genre, you are not only the coach here. You are also the owner: you develop the club buildings, grow your matchday income and decide where the money goes. Creating an account is free, and the game works just as well on a phone as on a desktop.

Tactics and live matches

In BuildTycoon you set up each match yourself: you choose the formation, name the starting eleven and decide how the team plays, then follow the match live and use up to five substitutions while it is running.

Pick the formation that fits your squad

Every match starts with a decision: which formation to use, who makes the starting eleven, how high to push your defensive line. There is no unbeatable tactic — what worked last week can be read and countered by your opponent.

Watch the match and change its course

Matches are played live, minute by minute, and you can follow them in real time. You have five substitutions available and you use them when you need them: a defender on a yellow card, a striker with nothing left in the 70th minute, a scoreline that has to be turned around.

Transfers and the youth academy

In BuildTycoon you sign and sell players on a live auction market run by other real managers, and you can also raise your own youngsters in the academy instead of buying.

Buy and sell on the transfer market

The transfer market is open at all times and it is moved by real managers, not by fixed prices. You can strengthen your side by signing ready-made players, or sell to balance the books. A good squad costs money — and money comes from results.

Grow your own talent

The academy produces youth players with different potential, from three to five stars. A well-trained five-star youngster becomes, within a few seasons, more valuable than anything you could buy — and all it costs you is patience.

Training and player development

In BuildTycoon you train players by choosing which of their attributes to work on, and each attribute develops on its own, session by session.

Every footballer has nine real attributes — pace, stamina, ball control, passing, shooting, heading, crossing, tackling and goalkeeping — and each one grows separately, depending on what you train. A midfielder drilled on passing looks nothing like one left to his own devices ten seasons later.

Players age, peak and then decline. A good squad today is not a good squad in two years — and that is the management side that separates a club which grows from one which stands still.

Build your stadium and your club

In BuildTycoon you run the club as its owner, not only its coach: you upgrade the buildings, and the stadium is what turns match days into income.

This is where the tycoon side comes in. Your club has eight buildings you can develop across several levels, and each one gives you something concrete: a bigger stadium means more spectators and higher gate receipts at every home match, better training grounds mean players who improve faster.

None of it is decoration. Your stadium income pays the wages, and the wages hold your squad together.

Leagues, National Cup and the World Cup

In BuildTycoon you compete in a national league of 16 clubs with promotion and relegation, plus the National Cup and a global Club World Cup played home and away.

You play in a national league with promotion and relegation, season after season. Running alongside it are the National Cup and the continental competitions, and the very best sides reach the World Cup — the tournament where the champions of every country in the game meet.

Each country has its own federation, with its own funds and its own rankings. You can climb from a lower division all the way to the top — nothing is reserved for those who started first.

Frequently asked questions

Is BuildTycoon free to play?

Yes. You create an account, you get a club and you play without paying anything. There is an optional subscription that adds extra benefits, but it is not required in order to play or to win.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The game runs in your browser. There is also an Android app, but it is optional.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. The game works in your phone browser, and matches can be followed live exactly as they are on a desktop.

How long does a season last?

A season runs about a month: 30 rounds, with roughly one match a day. You do not have to be online all the time — you set your tactics and your line-up, and the matches are played at their scheduled time.

Can I really earn real money?

Yes. Clubs can build up BTU from what they do in the game and, when they withdraw, BuildTycoon pays them USDC for it. This is not a promise of profit — it is a real economy, where good results bring income and bad decisions cost you.

What happened to GoalTycoon and MarketGlory?
